He directed the best Gangster movie (Scarface – 1932), The best Screwball Comedy (His Girl Friday – 1940), The best Western (Red River – 1948), The best Film-noire (The Big Sleep – 1946), The best Musical (Gentlemen Prefer Blonds – 1953) and the best Gary Cooper movie (Sergeant York – 1941)
