Jubilee Kumar goes tragic…

While Dilip Kumar was the undisputed ‘King of Tragedy’, fellow actor Rajendra Kumar who was otherwise known for his idealistic characters and swashbuckling ways took the path of tragedy when he did a string of characters that left him heartbroken. He played a doctor in Dil Ek Mandir (1963) who has to operate upon his ex-lover’s husband while keeping all the unethical thoughts at bay, a friend who gives upon the love of his life for his friend in Sangam (1964) and once again as a person in Arzoo (1965) who lets go off his ladylove after an incident that changes his life forever. Rajendra Kumar excelled in these movies when it came to sensitive performances, making these movies a milestone in not just his career but also in Hindi cinema
