Bazaar (1982)

Sagar Sarhadi’s Bazaar (1982) dealt with the issue of bride-selling, a trend still prevailing in some parts of the country and parts of the World. The movie boasted of a great starcast with some the best actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Smita Patil, Farooq Shaikh, known for being torch-bearers for the New Wave Cinema. But it was Naseeruddin Shah’s explosive performance as Salim, an idealist that really pushes the envelope for some great acting. The movie also boasts of some great music by Khayyam.
